Fill a large bourbon, cognac or wine glass with ice. Add all the ingredients and garnish with a slice of lemon. Enjoy!
For the simple syrup, combine equal parts water and white sugar in a saucepan. Heat the mixture, occasionally stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved. Stores well in the fridge for a week or more.
