The holidays are just around the corner. That means it’s time to start planning for get-togethers with family, friends and maybe some people you hardly know.
Some of us prepare for holiday hosting by planning fancy meals, decorating every inch of our home with mistletoe and tinsel or baking all kinds of fancy cookies… But at my home, holiday prep means researching fancy cocktails and restocking the bar.
Over the next few weeks, I will be posting some of my favourite creations for you to try. This year, I feel that Aperol, Campari and Prosecco will be making it into many of the cocktails. How could you go wrong with red-hued and bubbly drinks for the holidays, right?
First up is a drink inspired by a recipe from this season’s Food & Drink magazine. I am calling this the Christmas Cosmopolitan because it reminds me of a classic Cosmo but fancied up for the holidays.
- ½ ounce vodka
- ½ ounce Campari
- ½ ounce Cointreau
- 1 ounce mandarin juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 ounces cranberry juice
- 2 ounces club soda
- 2 sage leaves, bruised plus more for garnish
- In a tall glass, add the vodka, Campari, Cointreau, juices, soda and the 2 bruised sage leaves. Give it all a good stir. Add lots of ice and top with some sage for garnish.
